The Congress MP Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi has written to the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister for inclusion of Bihar's Seemanchal region in the train services and infrastructure projects to be proposed in the Railway budget for 2012-13. Talking with KBC Maulana Qasmi said that he has urged the PM and the Railway minister to start a train service from Thakurganj, an important place in Kishanganj district, or at least ensure a stoppage there of trains starting from Patna, Delhi, Kolkata and Katihar.
He said that the Railway minister should also consider stoppage at Thakurganj of trains like Mahananda Express, Kanchanjangha Express and Uttarbanga Express for convenience of commuters of Bihar, Nepal and West Bengal. The Congress MP said that he has urged the Railway minister to consider stoppage of Dibrugarh-Amritsar Express and Haldibari-Sealdah Express at Kishanganj railway station.
It should be noted, since the formation of UPA II the region of Seemanchal has been neglected by the Railway Ministry. The common people of Seemanchal bounded for Delhi, Mumbai, and other parts of the country are facing huge difficulty in travelling by train after Trinamool Congress party has been given the Railway Ministry berth. Even today the New Delhi - Guwahati Sampark Kranti Express has not been granted stoppage at Kishanganj. The Railway Yard that was almost completed during the UPA I Government is still not functional due to biased approach of Mamata Banerjee.
KBC Managing Editor had submitted a memorandum to Mamata Banerjee two year back through local MP Asrarul Haque. However, the Congress MP failed to take any positive step and things are becoming worst for the people of the district. Hope the Prime Minister and Railway Minister will give attention to the letter of Congress MP, and the area of Seemanchal will get special services.
