Terrhagaach is the most backward block of kishanganj comprises of villages namely Baigna, Dhadhar, Matiyari, Jhala,  Dhaveli, Musahra and many other villages. The total population of Terrhagaach is around 107036. Balanced development of each region should be main objective of govt. Studies show that there are large variations in the field of development in our country that may be dangerous for the nation in the long run. The signs of backwardness can be seen in various aspects such as poverty, unemployment, education, health and transport and communication.

The occupation of majority of the population of this area is farming. 90% of total population of Terrhagaach live below the poverty line which is the lowest figure in India. The youth of this deprived area are mostly uneducated and working in the factories and hotels of Delhi, Punjab, Mumbai and several other cities of India for his survival. In addition to these, thousands of youths and children live the life in worst condition in different parts of the country.

Literacy rate indicators especially those for children is falling on regular basis, which is very serious problem for this neglected part. Education is the soul of society and this is not at all a good sign of Shinning India. There is only one high school in the entire block. There is lack of school in Terrhagaach block with shortage of teachers and facilities.  There is only one middle school and three primary schoolsin Baigna Panchayat. Similarly the low literacy of women of this area altogther brings literacy figure so low. Looking the present situation it is unfortunately true only 2 to 3% girls who appeared in metric exam because parents have not choice to send to high school.

This is a truth that we are in 21st century it is still not being realized that there is definite connection between education and good motherhood. It is here that a change is required. Educational system is directly linked with development. The role of women becoming an important and even essential feature of our present day reality. The big hurdle of Terrhagaach is corruption and political instabilities resulted in reduction of education, transport and communication, deterioration of economic growth, poor delivery of government funds. We need sympathetic treatment from the state and central governments.
When we look towards our politicians and their negligent approach towards Terrhagaach our hearts weep. We see the only hope in the education and the politicians need to give proper attention towards this unless we will not be able to give any answer to next generation. Of course, there are hurdles but we badly need schools with good teachers for upliftment of Terrhagach and whole Seemanchal area.
