Bihar’s historic capital Patna is gearing up for witnessing a modern invention in the form of “Patna Marathon” on February 26, 2012 (Sunday). The marathon is a move for change, a move to connect youth and elders, and a a move to bring the people from all sections of the society together on the streets of Patna, where they can share a good time and discuss the issues of Bihar. The organisers are giving final touch to the preparation for the first ever “Patna Marathon” and organizing rounds of meetings with volunteers. The organizing committee has formed various groups for different purposes and all are busy in making the proper arrangements for much-awaited marathon, which is seen as a beginning era for the people of Bihar.
Just after its launch on Wednesday (February 22) the video of theme song “Ganga Ke Tire Tire” has become very popular. Written by Hyderabad based Medical Student Prabhu Singh the song has been composed by Shruti Singh. Rekha Rao has sung the soothing theme song that takes you on the virtual journey of the culturally rich state of Bihar.
The streets of Patna are nowadays only saying about the “Patna Marathon” as the road side walls and polls are dotted with posters of the mega event. As per the organizing committee, the Patna Marathon will start at 6 am in the morning from historic Gandhi Maidan. The route of Patna Marathon features Buddha Colony, Kujri, Patliputra, Shri Krishnapuri, Bailey Road, Raza Bazaar, Danapur Road, Danapur Cant, Airport, Patna Junction and finally it will commemorate at Gandhi Maidan.
There are two different routes measuring kilometers and 10 kilometers including a separate route for blinds. Along with locals, people from different parts of Bihar, politicians, the Non Resident Bihari athletes from India and abroad are supposed to participate in the marathon. The organizing committee of Patna Marathon is in continuous touch with the administration for proper security management. Besides this, various teams of doctors have been appointed for medical check-up of around 10,000 participants. The winners will be rewarded with medals, mementos and other gifts during the award distribution ceremony at Gandhi Maidan.
Patna Marathon has become a coveted event for Bihar and it is drawing the attention of the countrymen and Non Resident Bihari people residing in different parts of the globe.
