When it comes to fastest and biggest in Cricket, then no record can shy off from the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ – Virender Sehwag. Leading the Indian team against West Indies in the 4th ODI, the Captain Perfect Virender Sehwag crowned the title of world’s only Second Double Hundred scorer after Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag had scored 219 off 149 balls with 25 boundaries and 7 towering sixes, and surpassed Tendulkar’s 200 in ODI (the first Double Hundred in ODI was scored against South Africa in 2010). The crowd went frenzy over the strokes of Sehwag and witnessed the historic moment at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Undoubtedly, Sehwag was declared ‘Player of the Match’ for his fine innings, which is rare of rarest and hard to predict the record of the right hander can be broken ever.

Virender Sehwag – the self-styled Indian batsman who seems to come on the pitch to punish the bowlers without caring much about length or speed, always entertain the crowd inside the stadium and cricket fans worldwide. The Delhi Openor is leading the Indian team in absence of Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni, but he couldn’t contribute much with the bat. On Thursday (December 8, 2011), Sehwag regained his rhythm and rest is history. Sehwag’s 50 came in 41 balls (3x4, 4x6), 100 in 69 balls (4x10, 5x6), 150 off 112 balls (4x16, 5x6), 200 off 140 balls (4x23, 6x6) and 219 off 149 balls. The team India lifted the ODI series with 3-1, still one more match of the ODI series is yet to be played. Let us salute the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ for his big contribution to the Indian Cricket.

Sehwag’s heroics is referred with various terms such as ‘Multan ka Sultan’, ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’, or the Zen Master of Modern Cricket etc. for his valuable contributions to team India in ODIs and Tests as well. The aggressive right-handed opening batsman and a part-time right-arm off-spin bowler, Viru played his first One Day International in 1999 and joined the Indian Test cricket team in 2001. In April 2009, Sehwag became the only Indian to be honoured as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for his performance in 2008, subsequently becoming the first player of any nationality to retain the award for 2009.

Sehwag holds multiple records including the highest score made by an Indian in Test cricket (319), which was also the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket (reached 300 off only 278 balls) as well as the fastest 250 by any batsman (in 207 balls against Sri Lanka on 3 December 2009 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai). His other innings of 309 and 293 are also the second and third best by any Indian player. Sehwag also holds the distinction of being one of four batsmen in the world to have ever surpassed 300 twice in Test cricket, and the only one to score two triple centuries and take a five-wicket innings haul. In March 2009, Sehwag smashed the fastest century ever scored by an Indian in ODI cricket, from 60 balls. On 8 December 2011, Sehwag became the only player in world to score a double hundred in ODI and a triple hundred in Test Cricket.
