Celebration: AMUCC meets VC, gets Official Confirmation for Agreement

It’s Official! Now the die-hard dreamers of AMU Study Centre Kishanganj can celebrate and prepare themselves to participate in ‘Mega Celebration’ on December 30 / 31st, 2011 in district headquarters of Kishanganj. The Delhi based AMU Coordination Committee (AMUCC) visited Aligarh Muslim University on December 10th to get the official confirmation about the acceptance of 224.02 acres contiguous land offered by the Bihar Government. Following its telephonic confirmation with the AMU VC regarding acceptance of 224.02 acres proposed land a couple of days back, the AMUCC was waiting the written reply addressed to Bihar Government.

The letter of AMUVC addressed to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar says “We are most delighted to receive the 224.02 acres of land in the Chakla Village of Kishanganj in accordance with the requirement stipulated by the University. We would like to receive the land before the end of December 2011. I convey our heartfelt gratefulness to your goodself and the entire Govt of Bihar for generously supporting the endeavour of AMU to establish one of its centres in Bihar. With this decision, the Govt of Bihar had displayed its vision to create an educational institution of excellence in one of the most backward regions of Bihar. The AMU feels greatly honoured for having got this opportunity to serve the people of Bihar and adjoining regions and be a partner in your vision to create a new and vibrant Bihar.”

Honourable Prof P. K. Abdul Azis warm heartedly welcomed the AMUCC team headed by Co-ordinator Mohammad Aslam including PRO Mohammad Mudassir Alam, Soban M Ahmad, Murteza Iqbal and Mohammad Mansoor Alam. Despite the AMU Students’ Union Election (AMUSU) polling day, Prof. Azis had given 2 hours to the Delhi team and discussed so many things including some crucial points about the agreement and the requirements there after. On the whole, the meeting with the Vice Chancellor this time was quite different from the earlier meets b/w AMU VC and AMUCC. Of course, the reason was sign of positivity and virtual end of the 3 year long deadlock regarding the proposed AMU Centre in Kishanganj. All the AMUCC members and Prof Azis were looking highly delighted during the two hours meeting at the prestigious and legendary Vice Chancellor lodge.

It should be noted, the AMUVC had insisted the AMUCC group to work for the cause till it get a complete physical shape with faculties, hostels and everything, which might take 10 years or more after agreement. With tons of thanks and warm-hearted invitation to visit Kishanganj on December 30/31, the AMUCC members said ‘Good Bye’ to generous Prof Azis. Even the staffs of Vice Chancellor team were equally humble to AMUCC team and shown their willingness to provide any type of assistance especially in the form of official documents. Prof Azis is highly enthusiastic about visiting Kishanganj to sign the agreement with Bihar Government’s representative DM Kishanganj. However, Prof. Azis has shown willingness to see the Bihar CM, HRD Ministers, other key members of Bihar Government, our local leaders including MP and MLAs, educationists, activists, groups like AMUCC & KEM, and common people.

The agreement b/w AMUVC and Bihar Government is being planned to celebrate at a massive level, so that people can memorize for a long time, and contribute further in their own ways for the cause of AMU Centre Kishanganj till it gets final shape. Being a member of AMUCC and a native of Kishanganj, Seemanchal and Bihar, I would request all to be present in Kishanganj on December 30 / 31st to become the witness of “Rising Sun” in the form of official agreement signing event.

  1. One of the most pleasant pieces of news of my life. For some more days I want to wait when some of my well-wishers will inform me of the grand celebration. as that time we and people like us will get a " No entry" slip. That time people like Mujahid Master, Taslimuddin will grace the occasion. This scene will not hurt me and my KEM friends, as we well know what happens here politically. How ever, when this finishes well, we will wage another war. As our sole motto is to wake the people of this area and make them recognise their own capacity. Inshallah AMUCC will support us shoulder to shoulder in that battle also.At the same time I want and beg your all type of cooperation in strengthening Crescent Public School. As it is the only source which inspired me so much to get up and take the AMU task as my personal cause.

  4. Thank you so much Mudassir for sharing such a pleasant news. I think most of us are eagerly waiting for that historic moment when the agreement will get the final seal. Nevertheless I am higly surprised with the words of Mr. Shahid saheb. It seems he is in a state of shock. The comments made by him are sarcastic ones. It seems he has some political prejuidice. Mr. Shahid, does it matter for you that who will be there to celeberate it? In my opinion it is everybodys celeberation so all of us must grace the occasion. No doubt this movement inspires us a new wave of struggle for education, employment and overall upliftment of the society. Its beyond my comprehension which type of war you are going to fight? The demand of time is that We need revolutionary politics. That means politics that can lead us towards a genuine socialism where freedom knows no limit other than not interfering with the freedom of others.
