Birthday of Maulana Azad celebrated as National Education Day in Kishanganj

November 11, 2011: Kishanganj celebrated the birth anniversary of India’s First Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as National Education Day. Kishanganj based Peer Ali Hazrat Mahal Education Trust run by Retd ADM Mohammad A. Hafiz Khan came forward with the unique idea to celebrate the 123rd Birthday of Freedom Fighter, Journalist, Editor and Great Thinker Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The birthday celebration of Maulana Azad was attended local Professors, Writers, Educationists, students and activists including former AMU Student’s Union President Abu Affan Farooque.



Nayemuddin Qasmi, the former Urdu / Persian teacher of Insan School and currently actively in social activities did the anchoring and added distinct fervor in the celebration with his shairs and enlightened views. Students of Bethel Mission School sung three group songs including Sare Jahan Se Achcha and Jai Bihar. The organizer has facilitated the four local residents (lecturers / readers / professors) of Kishanganj, namely Prof Mansoor Ahmad, Prof Gulrez Rahman, Prof Sajal Prasad and Prof Ms. Vidya with a shawl, memento and bouquet for completing Ph.D this year.


Further, Dr. Mansoor Ahmad, Dr. Rizwan Ahmad, Dr. Sajal Prasad and Abu Affan Farooque delivered good speeches focusing on the life and contribution of Maulana Azad for the country. The programme ended with a ‘Kavi Sammelan’ attended by many poets including Khalid Mubashshir.
