Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Study Centre is the high hope for the educationally and economically deprived district of Kishanganj. Not only Kishanganj, the special centre of AMU is equally important for whole Surjapuri area (Katihar, Purnia, Araria and Uttar Dinajpur), the states of Bihar in whole and also the neighbouring states of Jharkhand and West Bengal. However, since the date of announcement of proposal till now besides land identification and two visits of AMU VC nothing has happened. In the meanwhile, two centres have already opened in Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Mallapuram (Kerala).
