Addressing the gathering during Election Campaign

In fact, Abu Affan Farooquee was closely associated with the Students Action Committee, which led the 3 month long agitation last year for restoration of Aligarh Muslim University Student’s Union that was dissolved in 2007. Finally the AMU administration accepted the demand of the Students Action Committee on intervention of Rahul Gandhi and other political leaders. In the month of December 2009, AMU VC Prof P.K.Abdul Azis announced the election date for AMUSU.

Keeping His Point during Poll Campaign

The polling for AMUSU was held on January 19, 2011 and students participated with huge expectations to elect their leader.  Abu Affan Farooquee - I am a simple man

Though for the first time in the history of the institution two women contested for posts of president and honorary secretary, neither managed to win. This was the first time that elections for AMU students union were held under recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee. This was also the first time that undergraduate girl students were given the right to vote.

Born on September 12, 1987 in Kishanganj, Abu Affan Farooquee has completed his school education from Minto Circle, AMU, Aligarh. The triumph of Farooquee is really a matter of proud for AMU Student’s Union, the entire AMU Students community, and the district of Kishanganj and Surjapuri community as well.

I would like to end the article with the beautiful shair taken from Facebook Profile of Abu Affan Farooqi

“Himalay ki bulandi hi meri manzil nahi saaqi,

Meri azmat ke parcham abr-e-baran par bhi dekhoge,

Mujhe mehdood mat samjho, woh din aane ko hai jis din

Mere naqksh-e-qadam ko chaand taron par bhi dekhoge”.....
