Once one of biggest cattle fairs of the country, Khagra Mela is the most awaited event for the residents of Kishanganj and nearby areas. In fact, Khagra Mela provides a fine glimpse of rich culture and traditions of the district and neighboring areas. An annual fair, the Khagra Mela usually held during the month of January and February. This year the fair started on January 26 this year and now about to commemorate.

Considered as a cattle fair, Khagra Mela offers excellent options for businessmen, cattle owner and the common people alike. Camels and cows are the cattle brought by the traders from various parts of the country for sell here.

Apart from business and cattle trading, Khagra Mela provides a variety of entertainment options to the visitors. Like other fairs of the country, in Khagra Mela too you will find the jhulas, charkhi, nautankis, circus, magicians, snake charmers, death well and many other types of interesting things.

For shoppers there are a wide range of shops, most of them offer fixed price starting from Rs 5 to Rs 100 and so on. As the fair is much popular among ladies and children, so you will find most of the shops dedicated to them. From make up items to dresses, ladies can check out every thing in the fair, while for children there are many toy shops. Besides, the mela also have a number of shops offering items for gents.

Surely after wondering through the streets of mela you will feel hungry and wish to refresh yourself. Don’t worry there are a number of eating joints, where you can savour delicious chaat, pakodi, bhelpuri, dosa, idli, sweets and many other delicacies of the country.

    Hi Mudassir,

    The photograph of each and every event will be an added advatage. If anybody have the photograph of any event then please send Mudassir in his mail ID. He will add to the site. Organiser or Committee of Khagra Mela can help you better to add more on it. Apart from all these stuff we can improve the quality of the Mela knowing about the Sonepur and other melas(Fairs)in any part of the country. That how the other mela committee works on their part. This way we can get back the lost glory of our own mela following their way to work on it.

    But this is not a one man job, we need to think on it and work togather.
